Making pollution visible - Tribune of our founder: Caroline Van Renterghem

3 people with 2 banners #on wants to breathe around #039;a gathering of people

For several months now, civil society has been mobilizing more than ever to call for greater climate justice and above all for concrete and effective actions to fight pollution, especially air pollution. But some are unfairly directing their criticism against anti-pollution masks and their manufacturers, wrongly according to our founder Caroline Van Renterghem.

From the Change.org petition, to the Citizencase.org campaign, via the Pig Walk, the actions carried out by EELV, Greenpeace, cycling associations such as FUB, La Ville à Vélo, groups of local residents fighting for a more breathable daily life like our friends at Coll'Air Pur and of course the association Respire for which we encourage all our customers to join...and of course L'Affaire du Siècle which we encouraged you to sign and which now has over 2 million signatories... WAIR has joined forces with many initiatives in favour of air quality.

We were obviously present at the march on 27 January alongside all these actors and all of you citizens, urban dwellers, cyclists and other inhabitants of our planet.

We regret, however, that some of these claims are directed against anti-pollution masksIf our solutions can be described as "palliative", we would like to state that they offer immediate and effective protection for any urban victim of this air pollution.

Selling anti-pollution masks does not prevent us from fighting for more breathable air on a daily basis, and while we are of course committed to existing and creating value from the sale of this protection, it does not prevent us from doing so in the most responsible way possible.

WAIR is made in France and even in the Rhône-Alpes regionWAIR is composed of environment-friendly materials or recycled and all hypoallergenicThe only component coming from abroad is shipped by boat to further reduce our environmental impact. WAIR is manufactured and stored in a sheltered workshop (ESAT) employing disabled people, always in the Rhône-Alpes region.

We would like to have a coherent pathWe are protecting you from pollution, it is unthinkable that we should contribute more than we should! Of course, impact 0 is unattainable, even for the most virtuous citizen or company. But we are striving for it.

WAIR is very careful to offer affordable ratesThis is because we believe that BREATHING WELL SHOULD NOT BE LUXURY. Air pollution affects 92% of the world's population, and therefore almost all urban areas in the world, and we want everyone to have access to effective protection for a reasonable price.

So today we want to state that:

- YES governments must act to drastically reduce pollution levels on our territories, and we will continue to campaign for this.

but

- NO, we must not demonize anti-pollution masks and their manufacturers and put them all in the same basket. In addition to providing truly effective and immediate protectionhave the power to MAKE AN INVISIBLE PROBLEM VISIBLE.
For those who meet the current European standards, they provide effective and immediate protection against air pollution and can therefore be used to reduce its adverse health effectsThey are not a solution to halt the increase in air pollution but a protective solution.

Wearing an anti-pollution mask is a militant act but also a good way to protect one's health..
Wairement yours, for a wairement cleaner world.
